Sebastiano Salamida
Sebastiano (Nino) Salamida was born in Alberobello on 01 July 1938 where he lives and works in Corso Trieste and Trento n.76-80. Graduated Surveyor at the Institute "L.Pinto" of Castellana Grotte in 1958, he was the first director of the Technical Office of the City of Alberobello from 1961 to 1976. Catholic, committed as a young man in Catholic Action and politically always Christian Democrat faith. From 1981 to 2015 for 35 years he served as Chairman of the Patronal Celebrations Committee of Alberobello, directing and coordinating the organization of the Patronal Feast of Saints Medici Cosma and Damiano. From 1984 to 1991 he was President of the Association PRO LOCO of Alberobello; in this role he was the promoter of several initiatives still in existence: he was responsible for the conception and realization of the Folk Festival, the Festival on the threshing floor and the impromptu painting. After his first experiences as a young artist, he was self-taught from 1990. In addition to exhibiting his works permanently at his Gallery in Corso Trieste and Trento n.78 in Alberobello, he has made various exhibitions, solo and collective.
