The presence of the Crucifix in the Sanctuary of Rutigliano, held by the Capuchin Friars, and attributed to Genuino Vespasiano by the art critic Giovanni Boraccesi, Amply justifies the attention that the cultural world of Rutigliano reserves to the Crucifix and therefore this work comes propitious first of all to tell the importance and religious-spiritual significance of the icon of the Crucifix, wherever it is located, and at the same time to identify in how many ways art has been able to translate, in its language, something that belongs and is deeply rooted in our culture and our spirituality. This research is perhaps a fascinating chapter of Christology focused on the representation of that mystery of love that is revealed in the humiliation of death and in the love of the Cross for which the Father “handed over the beloved Son” because “May all have life and have it in abundance”.
