Luigi Galanto

Born in Monopoli in 1933 by Giovanni and Rita Manghisi. Successful entrepreneur in the automotive, industrial and naval sectors. All of its companies operate both nationally and internationally. Founding member of Monopoly Lions Clubs and president in 2000/2001. Manager of the A. P. Monopoli basketball team in the 1960s. In 1993 he was appointed commander of the Order of Saint Sylvester by Cardinal Sodano, under the pontificate of John Paul II. In 2003 he became president of Polisportiva "E. Giannoccaro" of Monopoli. In 2013 he began a meticulous work of collecting documents, photos, letters to reconstruct the missionary history of his uncle Pietro Manghisi, a monopolist killed in Burma in 1953, during his activity as a Catholic missionary. Book published posthumously but carried on with commitment and determination, especially in the last period of his industrious life.
