Alberobello the humanism of the trulli

Going beyond the visual curiosity, the author builds, rather, a significant macro-thought of the trulli. The reading code he advocated therefore surpasses appearances, the immediate sensory impressions, the simple contact of opportunity, the mechanistic philology of stone on stone. The stony dwelling is captured and proclaimed by the Author as a diffused good, therefore as an effective expression of that civilization of the trulli whose habitat continues to attract crowds of visitors from all over the world.
In the volume, moreover, it is not difficult to identify a binary existential path: on the one hand the work path concerning life and survival in a wooded territory, on the other the Christian path with its inner responses to great hopes. It is as if a two-tone providence were consolidated: the human-historical, – almost biological – providence of laborious existence, and the divine-shared providence of heavenly intervention. A bipolar soul, therefore, that of Alberobello: on the one hand, it looks at the empirical practicality of the tiring daily life and on the other it rises and sweeps into the dimension of the Beyond, of the Transcendent.
