In the organization and planning of the topics covered, a narrow timeline was observed; how to tell and describe the birth and growth of a living city, almost like the life of a person, with all the normal and usual events, tragic moments alternating with lucky and happy moments, a living body.

Without claiming to have specialized insights into every aspect necessary to illustrate the environment, the birth, development, characteristics and all the inevitable vicissitudes of a city, we wanted to produce an overall vision that tells with linearity the evolution of the city itself.

Necessarily, this city entity is immersed in an external society, with which it interacts, confronts and suffers negative and positive influences.

The geographical location places the city of Monopoli in a sort of “middle ground”, always between the cultures that surround the Mediterranean and the great cultures and therefore European powers. The result is a habit of the “new” as a stimulus to progress, to interact constructively with other peoples and cultures. A general climate of tolerance and predisposition to integration.
