The diversification of the forms of the poem at the beginning of the 20th century accompanies the affirmation of the necessary renewal of poetry. It is part of a broader context of reflections on creation in which plasticity is an important scheme because it implies malleability and internal constraint to the work. Based on an analysis of its values in the field of knowledge, mainly psychology and linguistics, the book puts this notion of plasticity into perspective with the discourses of poets and artists of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and their poetic productions, when the poem variously invests the space of the page and the book. The lethude of verse, line or white, typography and letter, makes it possible to observe what is played out, between constraint and freedom, in poetic writing.
